Contending that these conditions such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure can cause them to have a negative outcome. Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article a study of high blood pressure. According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) one in three Americans have hypertension. With only one in four having it under control. Between 2003 and 2014 hypertension cost the U.S. $131 billion each year. Researchers found that some herbs can help lower blood pressure such as;garlic, cinnamon, basil, cardamom, ginger and hawthorn.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article regarding a study from Canada. The study found that pregnant women who take antidepressants are at greater risk of developing gestational diabetes. The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states that two to 10 percent of pregnancies in the U.S. are affected by gestational diabetes each year. Blood sugar levels go back to normal after giving birth with about 50% of women with the condition go on to develop type 2 diabetes. Pregnant women who took antidepressants had a 19% increased risk of gestational diabetes. While those taking venlafaxine or amitriptyline increased their risk 27% and 52% respectively.
