One Puerto Rican study found that women who consumed sofrito more than once a day had a 67% reduced risk of breast cancer compared to those who ate none. Sofrito is condiment that is a staple in Puerto Rican cook made from onions and garlic. Some recipes call for other ingredients like cilantro and peppers. The onions and garlic contain antioxidants such as quercetin, saponin and alliin.
