Researchers divided nearly 300 obese participants into 2 groups one group was put on the Mediterranian diet. The second group were put on a low fat diet and followed for 18 months. Using a MRI before, during and after to map out fat deposits around the organs. Finding those on the Mediterranian diet had significantly decreased their hepatic fat deposits compared to the group on the low fat diet.
