But then declared an emergency and removed the woman's healthy kidney. Thinking the kidney was a cancerous tumor. The Florida State Department of Health has filed a complaint against Vasquez following him settling a lawsuit by the patient. He could be fined or possibly lose his medical license.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article about a study from Northwestern University. The study found that women who got laparoscopic surgery instead of the traditional hysterectomy were four times more likely to a recurrence. Even with this new knowledge many cancer centers still have not gone back to the more invasive hyterectomy. Researchers believe it could be that in the laparoscopic the abdomin is pumped full of air so the surgeon can see things.
