Which causes weak or soft bones and stunted growth. Pregnant women with low vitamin D levels are at risk of pregnancy complications such as preeclampsia. Which can increase the risk of premature birth, fetal growth restriction and the death of the mother and child.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news story regarding a study cataracts. The study a meta analysis of 20 other studies eight of whcih were control trials the others cohort studies. Finding that using vitamins and carotenoids cataracts can be prevented. In fact 10 milligrams per day increase in the intake of lutein and zeaxanthin decreased the risk of cataract development by 26%.
