More than 450 patients died from opioid pain medications with no medical justification for the prescription. Despite warnings from nurses that there was an institutionalized regime of prescribing dangerous doses of these drugs that were not clinically necessary.

Three companies Eli Lily, Sanofi and Novo Nordisk control 99% of the market. There also is no generic version of insulin even though the drug has been around for 100 years. From 2003 to 2013 the price of insulin has nearly tripled.
