Dr. Joel Wallach begins the show today discussing a report out from the government that states children of today will not live as long as their parents. Contending this is because there are no nutrients in our food. So people must supplement but most are not using supplements. This is another reason why so many people are obese in the U.S.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article about a Swedish study. The study found that the odds of a heart attack on Christmas Eve rise 40%. The odds of a heart attack on New Years Eve rise 20%. Researchers contend this is most likely due to people eating and drinking alcohol in excess. There is also an increased risk of heart attack by 12% in Sweden in late June's "Midsummer" celebration.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article about a Canadian study that found people discharged from the hospital around Christmas have and increased risk of death. It isn't definitive researchers believe it could be due to reduced staffing and lack of follow up. Patients released around the holdays also had an increased risk of re-admission. Previous studies have found a "weekend effect". An increased risk of death or return visits if patients are admitted on Friday or over a weekend. For much of the same reasons lower staffing, less experienced staff and delays in testing.
