Monologue
Dr. Joel Wallach begins the show discussing healthcare costs. Asserting that the cost of healthcare is skiyrocketing whether it be insurance or medical care all costs are increasing. Contending that people should take charge of their own healthcare. Stating that tests done in a doctors can be done safely at home for pennies on the dollar compared to a office visit.
Pearls of Wisdom
Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article regarding a study from Australia. Researchers gave sciatica patients either a placebo or the pain killer pregabalin (Lyrica). After eight weeks researchers found that the placebo did as well at reducing pain as the drug. Meaning doctors should stop prescribing it for sciatica patients. Warning that patients currently taking pregabalin should not stop cold turkey for fears of seizures.
