Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article regarding a study of breast cancer treatments. Researchers found that more than half of women with early stage breast cancer received more radiation than they should have gotten. Getting the full six weeks of radiation when the shorter four week treatment regiment or opting out all together. Estimating $164 million could have been saved. Since the six week regiment costs around $13,000 and the four week treatment costs around $8000.
