Pearls of Wisdom
Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article about high health care costs. A study funded by the Kaiser Family Foundation found that 5% of Americans account for 50% of all health care spending. The study looked at three years worth of diagnostic and claims data found those with high spending on health care averaged $88,000 in 2017. Accounting for 19.5% of overall health care spending. Treating chronic health challenges such as HIV, MS, cystic fibrosis, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes and cancer were those in the high spending group.
