The study found that in the last 16 years the incidence of type 2 diabetes in children age 10 to 19 has increased 95.3%. Researchers believe this is due to the increase in kids being overweight and obese. Finding this alarming because children with type 2 diabetes are at greater risk of heart disease and stroke.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a study from Canada regarding the health benefits of eating lentils. The study found that replacing half a serving of potatoes or rice with lentils can lower blood sugar levels by some 20%. Because the lentils are absorbed slowly they don't cause spikes in blood sugar levels.
